About My Journey

My personal journal exploring contemporary art, ecology and our relationship with the natural world.
I created Apperley Bennett.Art as a space for looking closely, asking questions and following ideas wherever they lead. Here, I bring together my writing, research and conversations with artists, alongside a developing programme of online exhibitions.
At its heart is my interest in how art shapes our understanding of the world and our place within it. Through contemporary and environmental art, I explore questions of nature, ecology and sustainability, considering how artists respond to changing landscapes, human influence and the environments we inhabit.
My approach is personal and enquiring. I share reflections on artworks and exhibitions, explore artists’ practices and consider the ideas behind what we see. My background in photography and Art Museum and Gallery Studies informs this approach, as does my curiosity about how images, materials and spaces can influence what we notice, value and imagine.
A space for artists and ideas
Alongside my journal, I will curate regular online exhibitions featuring a diverse range of artists from around the world. Through each exhibition, I want to offer time and space to encounter their work, understand its context and discover connections between different experiences and perspectives.
I see writing and curating as connected practices. An exhibition might spark a conversation, an artist’s work might prompt further research, or a journal entry might become the starting point for a future exhibition. I want to give these exchanges room to grow.
Curiosity, learning and possibility
My aim is to inspire and educate through thoughtful, accessible writing that welcomes curiosity. Whether you have an established interest in contemporary art or something has simply caught your attention, I hope you will find a way into the conversation.
Above all, I want Apperley Bennett.Art to become a radical space for new ideas: somewhere I can give art room to speak, share perspectives that challenge familiar assumptions and explore possibilities we have yet to consider.
I invite you to look, learn, question and imagine alongside me.
